Where information needs to be discussed with my clinical supervisor as part of safe and ethical professional practice
Where appropriate and where it is safe to do so, I will discuss any proposed disclosure with you first.
I will only share information that is necessary and appropriate in the circumstances.
5. Counselling supervision
As part of responsible professional practice, I may discuss aspects of my counselling work with a suitably qualified supervisor.
Where possible, information discussed in supervision will be anonymised so that you cannot be identified. Any information shared will be treated confidentially and in accordance with professional and data protection requirements.
Professional supervision is a recognised part of safe counselling practice.
6. How your information is stored
I take reasonable and appropriate steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure.
Electronic information is stored using appropriate password-protected systems and devices. Paper records, where used, are kept securely.
I do not sell or share your personal information for marketing purposes.
7. How long I keep information
I only keep personal information for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, taking into account my professional, legal and insurance requirements.
The specific retention periods for counselling records and other information will be explained as part of the counselling agreement.
When information is no longer required, it will be securely deleted or destroyed.

Where third-party providers process personal information on my behalf, I take reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate data protection arrangements are in place.
